My first reaction is that I realized how important the order is. When we living in an almost peaceful country, it is common to see that we forgot what role the order playing in our social. And then I feel how horrible  the  spiritual emptiness is. I feel a little connection between the characters in the story and around people. I mean that some of people I meet, even including me feel distress, confuse and hopeless some time. It may not due to a specific event or trouble, but it made us thinking negative. Just like the novel said “We’re desperate, Man, desperate.” If I adapt this novel, I will use film. The one reason is that the plot is dramatic and simple and we do not need as long as long television. And The camera language obviously could enhance the atmosphere of this novel. After adaptation, the part I will change is  protagonist’s internal monologue. In film, the common method is that using dialogue which had been adapted and camera to show internal monologue....

On the contemporary society, the adaption of IP (intellectual propert) become more and more popular. Because of the distance between different media, they cause variety influence, even though they talk a same story. Such as  Harry Potter  and The Lord of the Rings , the most common adaption is trans from novel to film.  Because of audience group, limited rules and dream space, novel and film will produce different areas of Influence. I believe we need to talk about it because it is a suitable way to compare two media and to survey the trend. Usually, number of the audience of film will more than the audience of novel and comic books. And the cost of film or television also much more than novel. However, adaption is not easy. Novel always give reader more dream place and have no limitation. Film are not able to do this because of capital and techniques. Considering about media, I found something about the improvement. From ancient to contemporary society, media had gotten rid of the limited of distance and time gradually by technique’s development. Hysteresis of information begin to disappeared. In this case, the amount and the range of information that people are able to receive improved. In the beginning, human only use their visional, smelling, auditory, tactile sense and gustation to receive information. Then they try to use voice, graphic as media to transfer information such as marks. Another obviously example is cave drawing. After language appeared, they even used words. Then people start to used removable media such as leaves, paper and wood to write or draw information. However, distance limited the speed of information’s diffusion in this period. This weekend, I had saw  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  which is an American period comedy-drama television series. Considering about the television series, one media dependent effects that you observed in your experience is about audience type. Television series is a kind of media that is absorbed in attracting long-term audience. In this case, television producers tend to choose hot theme. For example,  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  show a story that a delicate housewife become a talk-show star after her husband have a derailment. In the contemporary society, derailment become more and more common to happened. Especially the period after the man stuck in middle age like the husband in the television. I had read Asterios Polyp at this weekend. This is a unique graphic narrative because of its specific narrative. In this work, author use three skills to enhance contrast and complete the narrative. Firstly, the author showed same details or places with different situation to connect several parts of story and to give audience a contrast. For example, we saw the living room of Asterios’s house several times. And we will receive significant and clear information from author when every time we saw it. We are able to know Asterios’s situation depend on how clear the living room is and the color author use to draw the picture. When the first time we see the room, there are lots of cloth and trash on sofa and flood. Audience are able to realized Asterios’s terrible mood. We can also see the living room other two times, like the period before Asterios met Hana and the period he living with Hana. When those time, his living room is clean and have some romantic things such as flower. ...

I saw two films which was directed by Tom Tykwer named Perfume (2006) and Cloud Atlas (2012) this weekend. And had seen the movie Lola rennt ( 1998) a few month ago, which is another film Tom directed. The director obviously has his own unique shot langrage and editing method. Tom Tykwer tend to use a kind of rapid clip to though the plots and expression actor’s mind (always be protagonist’s). He cut and connect several items which are seems like separate but actually have some connection. The final work looks like a sequence of photo slide or montage. For example, when Jean-Baptiste Grenouille come into old flavorist’s cellar, he sees a mass of raw material of perfume like this first time. In this case, the common shot in many other film is panning slowly to show materials. But Tom Tykwer use his rapid clip to show every part of materials separate even without using Shot-Reverse-Shot.
